Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Prepare to install resilient sheet
  • Interpret resilient sheet installation requirements from job and manufacturer instructions and calculate the quantities of materials required
  • Identify hazards relating to the work site, work practices, materials, tools and equipment, and check risk treatments are in place and operating
  • Select and check all required tools and equipment are ready to use, and organise to fix any deficiencies according to workplace procedures
  • Gather the resilient sheet, coatings, adhesives and other materials required by job instructions, and check they meet quality requirements and are prepared and ready to use or install according to the manufacturer instructions, product labels, safety data sheets and workplace procedures
  • Confirm the wall substrate is clean and suitable for installing the resilient sheet, and fix or report any deficiencies according to workplace procedures
  • Establish a mixing station in a safe, suitable location, and prepare the surface coating
  • Trial the surface coating to check the equipment is operating correctly and the consistency of the coating material and the surface finish are according to the manufacturer instructions
  • Apply surface coating to the required depth and coverage according to the manufacturer instructions and job requirements
  • Check internal and external corners for square
  • Check wall surfaces for plane, and smooth and clear them for further processing
       
Element: Cut, fit and fasten resilient sheet
  • Prepare feathering systems and applications and apply according to the manufacturer instructions and job instructions
  • Establish the starting point and mark out working lines
  • Cut and fasten any required pre-form fillet according to job instructions
  • Measure, mark and cut the resilient sheet as required
  • Apply adhesive to the wall according to the manufacturer instructions, product labels, safety data sheets and workplace procedures
  • Position and fasten the resilient sheet according to workplace procedures
  • Heat the resilient sheet to form profiles as required by job instructions
  • Weld the resilient sheet’s seams and joins according to the manufacturer instructions
  • Finish installing the resilient sheet and trim joins and seams
  • Check the resilient sheet is installed correctly according to job instructions and quality requirements, and fix any deficiencies
       
Element: Complete the task according to workplace procedures
  • Clean up the work area, identify items for recycling and dispose of waste
  • Identify, tag and report any damage to equipment and tools
  • Check, clean and do routine maintenance of equipment and tools and store them and unused materials
  • Complete task outcome documentation

Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
